Savage Salvage

Stumbled across these pieces which are re-purposed, found parts that have been turned into cool aztec/indian looking jewelry with a hardcore twist (check out the use of bullet shells!)

Selldorf Architects

Love the muted consistency throughout the home. It really allows the landscaping and nature to stand out from the rest of the house. This is the way I think architecture should be; blend in.

the right way to convert a barn into a home

Shed is a Seatlle based firm which was founded on the motto "we design things and we make them". Shed has grown since that motto was coined and now is no longer responsible for all the construction of their designs, but continues to hold strong to these main beliefs:

" We believe that architecture is a practical art.
We believe that a pragmatic approach yields progressive design solutions.
We believe that buildings must use resources wisely.
We believe that architecture must sustain the way people live, work and play."

Tine K Home

Tine Kjeldsen opened her company in Denmark at the young age of 22. Kjeldsen has stood out amongst the other "shabby chic" interior decorators in the area by creating "a more minimalistic approach: clean colors in grey, blue, white, dark brown and black which eventually lead to the creation of a collection of cushions and quilts, and consequently the foundation of the company Tine K Home."

The posting below is a selection of images from Tine's own Danish home which clearly defines her company's style and methodology to creating a minimalistic home (all the while offering a cozy feel)

"According to me, the future is interesting, difficult and rather complex, but I try not to complicate matters: live your life in a simple way – and live in happiness.
I am confident, I stay true to myself, and I am sure my collection is a reflection of how I perceive myself. Hence its name: Remember Yourself."          - Tine Kjeldsen

restoration hardware "baby&child"

It's about time someone started making kids rooms and their toys look like something other than a cartoon. I love the way Restoration Hardware has included their rough, industrial elements into the semi-playful characteristics of their children's line.

Here is a selection of some of my favorite images from their website

As opposed to the rocking horse . . . The rocking dog
Kid's height industrial school table
Canvas floor cushions

A girl can't ask for much more  . . .

Love the rough metal mixed with the soft linen, silk screen liners

Could this get any cooler? I mean seriously . . .

so slick - what if all children were so privileged as to ride one of these around?

ryall porter sheridan architects

New York City firm, Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects, creates engaging modern homes, yet finds a way to bring comfort to the interiors by filling spaces with cozy materials and interesting shapes. The loft featured on this post is one of the more modern interior spaces. Located in SoHo, Porter took over two lofts and rooftop space to create this three story home.

The oven seen in this image is a "Turbo Chef" oven. They are so cool and come in more colors too! I love that they changed up the shapes between the two ovens.

painted leather?

Although painting leather is not common for the average person, Anna Leena had no problem painting this flea market find and placing it where it is often used by her family (which has aged it beautifully). Please check out her blog for more inspiring images and unique rooms.

So the next time you see an old leather chair that needs some "sprucing up" . . .  remember this chair and the possibilities of paint!
