loft tour

"Photographer Anita Calero migrated to West Chelsea long before the current stampede of millionaires. Back in the 1990s, she rented a 2,000-square-foot loft in an artists’ condominium, which she then bought and began to reconfigure. Calero knocked wide doorways into several rooms, including the new eat-in kitchen with its major appliances carefully hidden from the adjacent spaces. The dining table and chairs are lightly restored Jean ProuvĂ© “standard chairs,” with a faux-coral chandelier above (Calero frequents furniture dealers and flea markets).  Of course, this kind of archaeology isn’t possible in the ultra-luxury apartments rising around Calero’s building. We especially love how she has embraced the older elements of the space."

Gift Wrapping

Love the raw wrappings and materials in these images. The tags were created by BenignObjects on Etsy. Try and use these images as inspiration for your next gift wrapping. How cool would it be to be presented with a gift looking like this?!

I'm not really interested in this room. ONLY the fact that the inside of the archway was painted. . . that is all (and maybe the chair and bike hangings.)

sheperd's hut

Spotted on Remodelista, this Sheperd's Hut has caught my attention. Although, I feel it would make an awesome playhouse, it was designed as a guest house. Regardless, this is a great little treasure to have in one's backyard. . .

" Paulus Smith has been a specialist joiner for over 25 years, working on listed and historic buildings. He now spends his time creating meticulously crafted shepherd's huts from his medieval barn workshop in Sussex; wheels are cast from molten iron using original patterns, floors are solid oak, and all fittings such as door handles and window fastenings are high-quality reproductions."

Biomimicry at work

"These Japanese Juice boxes are camouflaged from modern box designs and try to convince consumers with their appealing ‘natural’ look."

black flatware = awesome

Why is flatware more often than not silver or stainless? Almoco has a great product here setting itself apart from others by bringing black to the table.
"The work of a third-generation, family-run business, Almoco Flatware has a gently curved shape that fits comfortably in your hand. The classic pattern satisfies the need for a simple and timeless aesthetic, and the matte finish makes it easy to coordinate Almoco with any dinnerware. Crafted of durable stainless steel, the knives are type 420 stainless and the forks and spoons are type 304. Made in Portugal.
        • The matte black finish is a conversation starter.
        • Set includes dinner fork, salad fork, knife, teaspoon and soup spoon.
        • Slim, simple design offers a satisfying and balanced feeling in your hand.
        • Dishwasher safe."

DIY coffee table w/ casters

I found this blue bench at a thrift store and bought it for about 5 bucks! After trying to live without a coffee table for a few weeks, I decided to turn it into a coffee table (with a little bit of love, white paint and some casters - bought from IKEA)

Apartment Therapy kudos

Below is a selection of images I found off of Apartment Therapy's website. Kudos to Apartment Therapy for always having interesting articles and beautiful images to inspire us all.

I have the Crate and Barrel couch in this image :) love it

What a neat idea for exposed kitchen shelving! It's revealing, yet disguising. Also very versatile with the rolling panels.

love all these photos!
