annaleena's kitchen

This kitchen from annaleena's hem is (in my mind) the ideal modern/livable kitchen space. It was one of the many rooms in Annaleena's home that oozes swedish inspiration.

The balance of modernism and warmth is a tricky thing to do, but I feel is accomplished in this kitchen.

ryall porter sheridan architects

New York City firm, Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects, creates engaging modern homes, yet finds a way to bring comfort to the interiors by filling spaces with cozy materials and interesting shapes. The loft featured on this post is one of the more modern interior spaces. Located in SoHo, Porter took over two lofts and rooftop space to create this three story home.

The oven seen in this image is a "Turbo Chef" oven. They are so cool and come in more colors too! I love that they changed up the shapes between the two ovens.

painted leather?

Although painting leather is not common for the average person, Anna Leena had no problem painting this flea market find and placing it where it is often used by her family (which has aged it beautifully). Please check out her blog for more inspiring images and unique rooms.

So the next time you see an old leather chair that needs some "sprucing up" . . .  remember this chair and the possibilities of paint!

aesthetic queues from the equestrian lifestyle

Recently Alex and I visited the Georgia Centennial Olympic Horse Park to enjoy some mountain biking (Alex) and the horses/stables/equestrian jumping (me).
While browsing through barns, observing riding gear and watching the equestrian jumping I continuously found inspiring details within this lifestyle of luxury.

Let me show you what I'm talking about. . .

elegance / poise

raw wood / over sized fixtures

metal roofing / teal support beams
exposed fixtures / rusted beauty
textured white cottons / natural leathers / accent stitching
warmth (orange, yellow, green) / plaid with navy detailing
