kitchens, kitchens, kitchens . . .

It isn't ours yet, BUT Alex and I will be closing on our first home June 17th. We cannot wait to get started on the place! We plan to tackle the kitchen first, so I have been doing a lot of kitchen image skimming. Take a look -

ladders in kitchens

For those of you who have seen me in person, know that I am not the tallest of women. Being 5'1" and having a love for high ceilings, especially in kitchens (see recent blog on opening up your kitchen) I have found a love for ladders in the kitchen. Most commonly found in libraries, these ladders can assist people of all sizes to utilize and access all those hard to reach places!

Let's not stop in the kitchen though. A ladder on a track system could be handy in all sorts of different environments!

Enjoy.

Here's an example of the track and ladder system in a bathroom!

Tine K Home

Tine Kjeldsen opened her company in Denmark at the young age of 22. Kjeldsen has stood out amongst the other "shabby chic" interior decorators in the area by creating "a more minimalistic approach: clean colors in grey, blue, white, dark brown and black which eventually lead to the creation of a collection of cushions and quilts, and consequently the foundation of the company Tine K Home."

The posting below is a selection of images from Tine's own Danish home which clearly defines her company's style and methodology to creating a minimalistic home (all the while offering a cozy feel)

"According to me, the future is interesting, difficult and rather complex, but I try not to complicate matters: live your life in a simple way – and live in happiness.
I am confident, I stay true to myself, and I am sure my collection is a reflection of how I perceive myself. Hence its name: Remember Yourself."          - Tine Kjeldsen

kitchens

First seen at Remodelista.com, this selection of kitchens exude class by using several complimentary materials (i.e. tile, brick, cement, wood) and all posses a well organized, clean environment with their methods of storage and placement.

Notice that the majority of these kitchens do not have over-the-counter cabinets. . . Those days are over. Welcome to the new way of storing "above the counters" - Shelving.

annaleena's kitchen

This kitchen from annaleena's hem is (in my mind) the ideal modern/livable kitchen space. It was one of the many rooms in Annaleena's home that oozes swedish inspiration.

The balance of modernism and warmth is a tricky thing to do, but I feel is accomplished in this kitchen.

Enjoy

black details in kitchens

I'm really enjoying all of the black found in these kitchens. . .
Especially those black stained wood cabinets below!
